Oliver Clarke and Susan Sandland have both been to India on spiritual journeys in the last year. Oliver traveled to India with Gina Sala of Seattle on a devotional singing tour. He originated the chanting for Gangajii and has led chanting at her retreats all around the U.S. from 2000-2003. His Universal Chanting Choir in Courtenay released a CD "Circle of Souls" in 2004. He has trained with Ann Mortifee, Shivon Robinsong, Deva Premal and others. He is profoundly dedicated to sharing the divine connection to true nature through singing.
Susan began her yoga practice 29 years ago in the traditions of Sivanada and Kripalu and has been teaching yoga in the Comox Valley for the past 15 years. Her most influential teachers are Sandra Sammartino, the Desikachars in Chennai, India, Ganesha (the grand nephew of Ramana Maharshi) in Tamil Nadu, India and His Holiness the Dalai Lama in McCleod Ganj, India.
During this retreat Oliver and Susan will lead Mantra/chanting as a pathway to self-discovery drawing upon a number of devotional traditions. Through mantra we experience how sound affects both our bodies and our consciousness and mantra sets up a wavelength for the consciousness to be transmitted. Mantra frees the mind so that we are in the most elegible state to receive the essential and eternal creative energy of the universe.
Susan will lead "breath to movement" yoga postures, pranayama breathing exercises and meditation. Susan can be reached by email at: sandland@yahoo.ca
Oliver can be reached through his website: www.shanti-o.com or email: olclarke@yahoo.com
