There is an annual herring spawn in the Nuchatlitz area in March. Sometimes there is a commercial fishery with seiners and gill netters. Whales and sea lions congregate among the small islands.
These are excellent times to beach comb the outer islands as you can walk to many of them. Low tides in the summer are around seven to nine o'clock in the morning.
The shareholders of the island have an annual general meeting in the morning and in the afternoon hold a potluck picnic open to all. The annual meeting is on July 24, 2010.
